Howdy Parade Friends! It is time to think about
The 5th Annual Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade September 6, 2014!
Kicking off the season of Art on the BeltLine!
Everyone is always invited to walk in the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade! Your participation is what makes the magic. Join a lantern workshop with Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons or make a lantern at home with your friends and family! Lantern Parade is a joyous time to get together and hold up a light for the Atlanta BeltLine. Last year, 10,000 people came! It was beautiful. This is the weekend you want your out of town friends to visit Atlanta.
The Lantern Workshops sold out really quick last year. We have added a lot more! Workshop registration opened today and the full schedule is HERE. Get you a spot at Lantern House! Lantern House is at 589 Ralph McGill Blvd. and graciously on loan to us from George DeMeglio who will be opening Il Gusto Bistro there in the fall of 2015!
HERE'S THE SCOOP ON THE PARADE!
Parade line-up is in the BeltLine corridor between Irwin Street and Dekalb Avenue with a tail-gate party in the parking lot at Krog & Irwin, 7:30-8:30pm. Irwin Street will be closed between Auburn & Krog.
The parade steps off at 8:30pm with the Seed & Feed Marching Abominables!
At 8:40, The Black Sheep Ensemble steps in!
Additional bands to be announced!
Please help make space for the bands, best accomplished by dancing on out of their way.
Wear comfy shoes and walk slowly! The PARADE ROUTE goes to Piedmont Park (2 miles) where we relax and have a cold drink at Park Tavern.
LEAVE NO TRACE! For the love of the BeltLine, let us not leave a spec of trash. We did great last year – 10,000 people and zero trash!
NO FLYING LANTERNS. They set fires.
GETTING THERE & BACK
Walk! Nothing like a summer evening stroll with your friends!
Ride your bike! Secure your lantern on your rear rack and ride to line-up! But plan to walk your bike in the parade.
MARTA! Line-up is 4 blocks from the MLK MARTA Station and the Midtown MARTA Station is 6 blocks from the finish.
Use a car service like Uber or Lyft! Be all fancy!
Carpool! Think of it like rafting.
See you on the BeltLine!
